Brasil Construtivista — Constructivist Brazil

The Brazilian Constructivism is one of the most important transcultural movements in Brazil. It was influenced by the post war modernism in Germany, but proposes an altered reading of the traditional concept. This interdisciplinary research movement investigates the necessary expansion of historical art debates about abstraction as an international language. In order to design a printed book with the chosen theme, significant research was done about the main brazilian artists who took part in the Constructivist movement. That led to the stage of organizing information into the following categories: painters, sculptors, performance artists, poets and graphic designers. For this work, structuring objects on canvas, paper and other blank spaces required very mathematical thinking as geometric elements were arranged in order to make coherent art. All pages of this piece were designed with the same method, and each chapter cover represents the style of concrete poetry, which was developed through the philosophy of Constructivism.
